Couldn't load pickup availability
Taught by Abi Hyatt, puppet maker extraordinaire, this 3-hour workshop will be on Saturday, from 12:30-3:30pm.
You will learn how to use found items to intuitively craft a unique Puppet. Using cardboard, hot glue, and worn clothing, participants will create their puppets with the materials they already have on hand. Participants will have access to an assortment of hand-me-downs and construction materials provided, but feel free to bring anything you're inspired to give new life (see example materials below). Lower barriers to discovering a new medium by repurposing materials and exploring your imagination.
Ages 10+ (10yr-12yr must sign up with an adult).
$60/participant
Optional materials for participants to bring:
-
Old clothing (puppet body material)
Jeans, flannels, sweatshirts, sweaters, blankets etc -
Thin cardboard (puppet body construction)
Soda boxes, cereal box etc -
Misc Bits and bobs (puppet facial features)
Buttons, pattern fabric, yarn, colorful packaging
After completing this session, whatever stage your puppet is at by the end, you can easily expand on your puppet at home. Here are a few examples of new puppet characters I've created using this upcycling process. What you can imagine, you can create!
