It's a way to get \u003cstrong\u003emultiple colors\u003c\/strong\u003e on a print by carving away or \"reducing\" the block. For example, you carve the outline of the profile of a bird \u0026amp; carve away everything on the outside of the image. You ink the bird in yellow. You print the bird 10 times using yellow ink.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou want the wing to be navy blue. Everything that you want to stay yellow (the bird's head \u0026amp; its back), you carve away. You print the wing \u0026amp; its lower body in navy blue on top of the dry yellow prints. Now you have a bird with a yellow head \u0026amp; back \u0026amp; a blue wing \u0026amp; bottom half.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou want the belly of the bird to be orange. You carve away the wing, now you only have the belly \u0026amp; legs left. You print the belly \u0026amp; legs in orange on top of the yellow \u0026amp; blue bird.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNow you have a yellow, blue, \u0026amp; orange bird print! You might want to think about details too, but it was too much for this example ;).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf that didn't make sense - not to worry - we'll be making something much less complicated.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe'll design a \u003cstrong\u003esimple\u003c\/strong\u003e geometric, abstract image \u0026amp; transfer it to the pink Speedy Carve block. We'll start with 10 prints so that we hopefully end up with at least 3 good ones. I'll teach you how to \u003cstrong\u003ecarve\u003c\/strong\u003e the block \u0026amp; we'll \u003cstrong\u003eprint\u003c\/strong\u003e using stamp pads on paper. \u003cstrong\u003eThe goal is to end up with multiple 3-color prints.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI'll provide all of the materials. Once you know how it works, you'll be able to do it again with a more complicated design.
